I am beginning to think about wall angels. Why? I see this one angel every night before I go to bed. It has a pink wing and a missing hand. Where the hand is I haven't a clue. It was one of many I had done couple of years ago. It is the only one left in my house. I kept it because I loved the pink wing. It also has a sweet face. Making faces on such a small scale is more time consuming for me. I make up these little heads separately. Each face comes out different. Some smirk, some sweetly smile, some are haunting. Somehow I couldn't part with this one. Missing hand and all. I think the hand is in the box of misguided parts.

I wrapped my rather large coffee table with brown wrapping paper and liked it so much I doodled and scribbled all over it. There are coffee and tea stains. Bad arithmetic. Misguided calculations. It is a messy thing. It is a musing thing. It's a not precious journal of sorts. Maybe it is just a way to sort things out. Forgiving myself and forgiving clay.

Last Friday we drove along Hwy 1 between Half Moon Bay and Bean Hollow State Beach. Stretches of the fallowed fields are covered with wild mustard in glorious bloom. Bright yellow swatches. Invasive to some. For others (including me) a wild and spicy treat. Sour grass is everywhere, too. Lemonade in chewy stalks.
One week later we have a dusting of snow on the high hills. All the hail and rain knocked off the flowers on the purple plum trees. It looks like pink snow.
Finally I will get back to clay next week.
